Yes, yes, yes, I know tartan came in really strong in 2013. Did I wear a lot of it, yes I did. Do I still have plenty of pieces hanging in my closet, yes I do. Am I sick of seeing myself in TARTAN….kind of yes, kind of no.
Though some might beg to differ, I do know when to stop beating a dead horse. Come 2014, all of my tartan pieces will be put to the back of the closet.
I actually photographed this piece back in mid-December so, I hope to make this my last tartan post. (no promises).
I remember when I first saw this dress. I was walking down 5th Avenue with the rest of the city pedestrians. I stopped in my tracks, which caused people to have to scurry around me. Considering this was evening rush hour, they let me know how annoyed they were with a deep, guttural huff like only a New Yorker can do. I didn’t care much, people do it to me all the time. Anyway, I looked at the storefront window for a bit. The bad voice in my head said, “that’s so you, go buy it”. Then the good voice said, “uhm, hello? Didn’t you say you weren’t going to purchase anything for the next few weeks? Good voice won, I continued on my walk home.
I’ve never been strong when it comes to restraining myself & something I really want. So after I walked in my apartment, it took all of 20 minutes before I was purchasing the dress online.
Unfortunately, the dress was only available in a large. But fortunately for me, that’s not a problem at all. Once the dress arrived, I pulled out my dress form and got to werk! (aka work).
