Tis the season for comfy slouchy sweaters and elbow patches.
Wearing a slouchy sweater can be tricky at times. Very easily, one can look like Sponge Bob Square Pants. To avoid that look, just tuck in the sweater. You can tuck with almost any bottom. The important thing to remember is, make sure the sweater is made of a thin knit. My personal favorite is the half-tuck. Either I tuck the front or just one side.
With that said, in the beginning of the season I was looking forward to purchasing several new sweaters. Unfortunately I didn’t find many I really liked.
It wasn’t until November, that I stumbled upon a sweater I fell in love with.
It was one of those days, I wasn’t looking for anything in particular but my eyes were wide open. I walk in to Jcrew and made a beeline to the sale section.
Humph, I didn’t see anything that struck a cord with me. Ok, these things happen. No biggie.
I spin around to go look at the accessory display, but instead my eyes land on a wonderful color block sweater on the other side of the floor. With a little pep in my step, I walk directly over to the table. I look left, center and right, no sale sign. (I’m trying not to pay full retail anymore). I’m still liking what I see, regardless of no sale. Who cares, I’m going in!
What makes this sweater different is all the fun accents. High-low hem, side button closer and ELBOW PATCHES! I adore elbow patches. Reminds me of my grandfather. (He still wears cardigans with elbow patches).
Victory was mine, I found my color and size in five seconds flat. I couldn’t wait to wear it! But it wasn’t until two weeks later that I had an opportunity to do so.
My friend /co-worker, (Hi Walasek) invited me to brunch on Saturday. I had to bail on her the week prior, as I somehow overbooked my calendar. So clearly I said, yes yes yes when she asked.
Warm and comfy outfit, check. Appetite of a construction worker, check. Anticipating good company and conversation, check check!

Let it be known, I’m not shy when it comes to food. I ordered 3 different dishes, (chips with blue cheese, calamari & arugula salad). TASTY. Walasek had only one dish. http://www.thesmithnyc.com
