A few months ago, I fell in love with the Drew Barrymore, Marie Claire cover shot. Drew looked stunning and the top she was wearing was nothing less than gorgeous.
First thing that caught my attention was, the sparkling jewel encrusted accent. Second thing was, the fact that this accent was on a sweatshirt. Yes a sweatshirt!
I’m not a sweatshirt kind of girl. I own one and I’ve had it since college. Doesn’t everyone keep their college sweatshirt? Love for Dartmouth, Go Big Green!
That said, I still wanted this top. Immediately I looked it up. Not surprised, it’s a Christopher Kane piece. What was a surprise… the price point. When your top is as much as your rent, you may need to re-evaluate a few things.
What happened next? My creative juices kicked in & I recreated the look for much much less. Though one person informed me, I paid way too much on the piece I made. Then again, what does he know. Stay in your own lane Watkins!
I was happy with the end result. Where did I choose to wear it? Up at our ski house in Vermont. Nothing odd about that….
Christopher Kane piece, $3045. Henderson recreation, $416.

amazing! tell watkins to go fu*k himself 😉
LOL. Thanks Brianne, I most certainly will!
I. Love. This!!! Please tell, how dead you attach the necklace? Did you sew it? If so’ was it only at the ends of the necklace or did you secure every flower?
Thanks!
Thank you very much. I hand sewed both necklaces to the sweatshirt. Not to tight as I wanted to allow it to drape some. Lesson learned, the weight of the jewelry will stretch the hole/opening so backing the opening with ribbon is key.
