Back on September 27th, I attended the annual Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (DGR) in New York City. DGR is a Triumph motorcycle ride that raises awareness for men’s prostate cancer. I had never heard of the event so I was sure to do my research.
DGR is a celebration of the art of being dapper and the style of classic custom motorcycles. What does that mean, you ask? Think, monocles, jaunty trimmed mustaches, silk vests, crisp shirts and tailored suits. Motorcycles are, Café Racers, Bobbers, Classics, Flat Trackers, Scramblers and quirky, undefinable two-wheeled machines.
The event was founded in 2012 in Sydney Australia, inspired by a photo of Mad Men’s Don Draper astride a classic bike and wearing his finest suit. It was decided a themed ride would be a great way to combat the often-negative stereotype of men and/or ladies on motorcycles. This statement couldn’t be more true. Everyone who attended the event were White Collar/Corporate America professionals Monday thru Friday and stylish, adventurists motorcyclist on the weekend.
In grand style, dapper gents and elegant ladies straddled the saddles of their Café Racers, Bobbers, Scramblers and spread merriment and joy throughout this city.
When my BFAM (brother from another mother = so close we’re like brother & sister) asked me to join him, (as a passenger), I said for sure!
By the end of the day I wanted my own motorcycle. I also wanted to join the ladies club, even though I’m not cool enough. I guess DGR felt bad for me, they put me in their, Ladies First: Meet the Women of DGR article/collage. (Link to article at the end of this post).

The ride started at Union Garage in Brooklyn, made stops at the South Street Seaport, Lincoln Center & in the West Village.

I don’t know much about riding them either, hence why I was on the back. Lol. As for the scarf, thanks. It’s a lovely color and the fact that it’s super soft cashmere doesn’t hurt much either.

Mojisola, you literally made me laugh out load. You also flatter me. I have to admit, I don’t own or know how to ride a motorcycle. I was on the back of the seat behind my friend who’s like a brother to me. It was so much fun.
I like your blog!
