So you may have noticed I was missing in action for almost two weeks. No new post, no making comments on my favorite blogs. Well that’s because I was busy packing up, moving out, moving in and setting up.

I lived at Waterside Plaza in the Kips Bay area for 6yrs. I loved it there but upon receiving my new lease a few months ago, I learned my new monthly rent was going to be just under $3700. a month. For those that don’t live in New York City, that’s actually a good price for a 868sq. ft. one bedroom apartment in a 24hr doorman building with gym/pool, rooftop sundeck, three level parking garage, on-site management office and best of all, private shuttle service to and from Grand Central Station in the morning and evening. By the way, the shuttle service is free.

In the beginning of this year, I promised myself it would be the year of Fiscal Fasting. My goal is to be liquid for just as much as I have tied up in investments. Granted, I won’t be able to match it in one year but no time like the present to get started. That being said, I decided to move.

By all means I’m an east side girl. My location sweet spot is Kips Bay and/or Gramercy. Fortunately for me, it took me less than two weeks to find my new apartment. It’s only a few blocks away from my old place. Much like my old residence, this new place is very private. You feel like you’re in your own little secluded community in Manhattan.

The complex offers two different style apartments. Classic design (honey color floors, white shaker cabinets, round door knobs, etc). Not my style. I went with the very modern design. Ebony floors, stainless steel appliances, sleek fixtures, you get the point.

Well I’m pretty much all settled in. Waiting on just one new piece of furniture to be delivered. For now, here’s a little peek….

I was told, if you can find ones under $200. they’ll replace all six. DONE!CouchCouch: Here at West Elm, I ordered the fabric in Brushed Heathered Cotton, Caviar & the length in 77 inches. This was the only new piece that I ordered and it should be arriving in 2 weeks.Bathroom1Gardens1Right outside my door…. beautiful manicured private grounds. While in Tokyo, visiting one of the world’s largest and most famous diagonal crossings, (aka Pedestrian Scramble) was at the top of our list. This legendary scramble is just steps outside of Shibuya Station.

Shibuya Station is popular with tourist, such as myself. It’s also heavily used by commuters traveling between the center city and suburbs to the south and west. Transporting over three million passengers in just 2014.

On this particular day, we wanted to see Shibuya as a whole, but mainly the Harajuku district. As well, we wanted to venture to Asakusa to visit the Senso-ji Temple.

How does this all tie in to fashion you may be asking yourself. Well, because of the districts we were going to, I knew I could experiment, no no, I meant… have a little fun with my style. Basically go against what comes natural to me and wear all black and wear over-the-knee socks. I know, I’m super adventurous.

Hmmm. Why am I questioning it, all 4 of us look pretty funny.

Casual Sunday ~ The Day Was Cropped

Boxy and ladylike, belted at the waist, or sexy midriff-baring, there’s no doubt, fashion right now is all about the crop top. We haven’t seen this trend since the 90’s, kudos to an explosive comeback.

It appears that some applaud the crop top and the versatility it will bring to your closet. However, there’s also a strong aversion to showing the midsection in any manner. Super short or elongated, I’m a fan.

I don’t subscribe to the notion,” if you wore it the first time around… don’t even think about wearing it again”.  That way of thinking is so our mother’s time. I don’t believe in ageism either. Not all, but most trends can be worn at any age. Remember a few key points, know your body, take note of fabrication and dress appropriately to where you’re going.

This past Sunday, while our Christian friends were celebrating Easter with family and loved ones, my Jew-Crew decided to have brunch on a friends rooftop. For this casual gathering, I pulled out my belted crop top to pair with boyfriend jeans. For modesty, I topped the look off with a driving coat.
