So last month we went up to the ski house. It was a dual purpose trip. We attended the Annual Oktoberfest Festival at Mt. Snow and the house got prepped for the winter months ahead. Wood for the fireplace and the wood burning stove was stacked higher than I am tall. (Now that’s high).

The festival was fun but even more enjoyable, taking in the New England fall foliage. Yes, the leaves on the weekend of October 10th were already changing. Here in New York City, not so much. Vermont foliage is way ahead of many parts of the Northeast area. Going up to the house at this time of year, the views never get old.

That being said, one must dress accordingly for the crisp cool air. It was the perfect time to pack a few new sweaters. This is one of my favorite new knits for the fall/winter season. Cozy and cute. Sweater: Here at JCrew (now on sale) | Tank: Forever21 | Jeans: Ernest Sewn | Bag: Louis Vuitton Musette | Shoes: Here at Stubbs and Wootton | Necklace: Bauble Bar | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban | Bracelet: David Yurman | Ring: David Yurman I just adore this crossbody bag. I purchased this bag back in the fall of 2008, long before crossbody bags were trendy. The Musette came in several different sizes but I got the largest one. Measuring at 12.5″ x 14″, it’s the perfect size bag. I can fit my iPad in there as well as my everyday item. This bag 7 years ago and is still in great condition. As with all Louis Vuitton products, it’s withstood the test of time. The great thing about this bag, it’s no longer in production. It seems like only a few people purchased this bag. Fortunately I get to walk around New York City with a bag no one else is carrying. Isn’t that refreshing? Yes it is! Is it just me or are you guys sick of seeing the LV Neverfull Tote. I most certainly am. ( I think I saw a homeless lady carrying one the other day).

For our first full day in Tokyo, we decided to start the day off exploring the area close to our hotel. I picked a casual and what I thought was, a comfy outfit. Unfortunately, I missed the mark. Not in regard to styling, I wasn’t going for a stylish look. But in regard to picking out pieces that were right for the weather.

I believe the low temps of NYC made me forget what 54 and sunny feels like. After being outside for no more than 30 minutes, I started to run warm. I didn’t let that get in my way. The great thing about wearing layers, you can peel them off.

Zojoji Temple, built in the year 1393 and moved to its present location in 1598. The relocation was governed by Tokugawa Ieyasu and made it as his families temple. A mausoleum of the Tokugawa family can be found on the temple grounds. The main entrance gate to Zojoji Temple is the last remaining original structure on the property. It has survived many fires, earthquakes and wars. The remaining buildings are recent reconstruction.

On the grounds there’s a cemetery and here you can find rows of stone statues. These statues represent the unborn children of Japan. Including but not limited to miscarried and stillborn. Parents can choose a statue in the garden and decorate it with clothing and toys. Jizō, the guardian of unborn children ensures that they are brought to the afterlife.Zojoji Temple - Jizo Statues 3Zojoji Temple Grounds 2                            Mausoleum of Tokugawa Shoguns Family

Shiba-koen [park] is one of five public parks that have been restored. The park sits in the shadow of Tokyo Tower and is adjacent to the grounds of Zojoji Temple. I found the grounds to be peaceful and absolutely beautiful. I decided to use the strap from my Louis Vuitton Keepall luggage, seen Here and Here to make it a crossbody bag. Mission accomplished.

There’s no doubt, the military trend has legs and has steadily survived since it hit the Fall/Winter 2010 fashion runways. This fall in particular, we’re seeing all camouflage everything. This not-so-subtle nod to the army can look edgy, sophisticated and/or feminine, depending on your styling choices.

Personally, I’ve never been drawn to the look but decided, it’s time to mix things up and so I suited up. Perfectly casual for a Saturday afternoon at a beer garden with friends.
