At the end of October, 14 of us flew to Cartagena, Colombia to celebrate LC’s birthday. There was drama at JFK Airport prior to us departing. One individual didn’t realize until they were at the check-in desk, that their passport had expired. Another individual spilled their entire coffee on themselves. Unfortunately, I didn’t walk on the plane unscathed. During check-in, they noticed I had two containers with liquid, that were 10oz or more. I was told to dump them or I’d have to check my bag. I needed that Keihl’s Sunblock & Mixed Chicks Leave-in Conditioner so the bag went bye bye.
Cartagena is a very pretty city with lots of history. Homes are painted in bright caribbean colors. Entry doors to residences are ornate and tell a story of the families history line. The restaurants are comparable to the ones here in New York City in pricing, decor and quality. The streets within the walled city are very narrow and one direction. Every car is around the same size as a four door Fiat and the drivers are respectful of foot traffic.
The two things I enjoyed the most on this trip, taking a 60min Segway tour (my first time ever being on one) and having the opportunity to visit the famed Tcherassi Hotel & Resort. We stopped by the hotel during the day and returned that same evening for dinner. That was a really special treat, considering I’ve been a fan of Silvia Tcherassi’s pieces for some time now.
If you haven’t been to Cartagena, I highly suggest it. Just be aware, the humidity is stifling. Unless you’ve been blessed with pin straight hair, do like I did and go with your natural curl(leave those flat irons home girls).

Carry-on: Louis Vuitton (She was returned to me without a scratch on her. Thank you luggage handlers.)The first evening here we didn’t have an agenda, so we decided to grab something to eat and then walk along the city wall. The evening sky was breathtaking.Tired of seeing the same maxi dresses in every store… I decided to design my own.
Thank you Mood for providing great fabric.1 & 2– Cutting the dress out from eye instead of using a pattern | 3– Adding a border to the hem | 4– Creating a tie for the halter neckline. Touring Cartagena’s walled city by Segway. Zipping through the streets for over an hour was super fun.
We took a day trip over to Rosario Island to relax on the beach & hang out at the pool while the boys go scuba diving.
