Has the temperature officially dropped here in Manhattan (NYC), I’d say no. We’re still having plenty of days that are 55 degrees and sunny. Matter of fact, it’s supposed to be 61 degrees this coming weekend. Hello mother nature…. it’s December.

Well, if you follow me on Instagram then you saw that I was up at our ski house in Vermont. It actually snowed a little bit, but only for about 30 minutes. They were fat/fluffy flakes. During the day it was a sunny 45, but once the sun set it dropped to the low 30’s. It’s never a problem for us. Throw a few logs in the fireplace, pour a glass of red wine, curl up on the couch and we’re set.

What do I wear during the fall/winter in-between season? Quilted jackets, quilted vest, cozy sweaters and hyper-warm base layers. Hyper-warm base layers are a must in Vermont. Here back in the city, I won’t need those pieces for another month or so.

As for this look, it works for me here in the city but this was probably the last weekend up there that I could get away with a cardigan & vest.

I’m always looking for new hobbies and aviation has always been on the list. My fear plus my mother saying, “no no don’t you dare” meant I never really thought about it too seriously.

A few weeks ago, we went back up to the ski house to relax and take in the fall weather. Saturday was absolutely gorgeous out so I took a walk over to see the renovated airport. Yes, at the end of our block there’s a private airport. Some people fly in for recreational purposes, some to go to golf club and others do so because it’s the quickest way to get to their winter home. I’d love to fly from Manhattan to Vermont….but first I need to buy a plane. (Note to self, add that to your Hanukkah wish list).

Once I got to the airport it, was empty but there was one gentleman wiping down his plane. I got the nerve up and went over to talk to him. He was very helpful and provided me with lots of information, including several instructional packets.

This all got me to thinking, what would I wear to my lessons? Something comfortable obviously. An outfit with layers, as I was told, it can get warm in the cockpit on sunny days. So those suggestions are a good starting point. Here’s what I wore the day I visited the airport.

Leather Forearm in Vermont

So last month we went up to the ski house. It was a dual purpose trip. We attended the Annual Oktoberfest Festival at Mt. Snow and the house got prepped for the winter months ahead. Wood for the fireplace and the wood burning stove was stacked higher than I am tall. (Now that’s high).

The festival was fun but even more enjoyable, taking in the New England fall foliage. Yes, the leaves on the weekend of October 10th were already changing. Here in New York City, not so much. Vermont foliage is way ahead of many parts of the Northeast area. Going up to the house at this time of year, the views never get old.

That being said, one must dress accordingly for the crisp cool air. It was the perfect time to pack a few new sweaters. This is one of my favorite new knits for the fall/winter season. Cozy and cute. Sweater: Here at JCrew (now on sale) | Tank: Forever21 | Jeans: Ernest Sewn | Bag: Louis Vuitton Musette | Shoes: Here at Stubbs and Wootton | Necklace: Bauble Bar | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban | Bracelet: David Yurman | Ring: David Yurman I just adore this crossbody bag. I purchased this bag back in the fall of 2008, long before crossbody bags were trendy. The Musette came in several different sizes but I got the largest one. Measuring at 12.5″ x 14″, it’s the perfect size bag. I can fit my iPad in there as well as my everyday item. This bag 7 years ago and is still in great condition. As with all Louis Vuitton products, it’s withstood the test of time. The great thing about this bag, it’s no longer in production. It seems like only a few people purchased this bag. Fortunately I get to walk around New York City with a bag no one else is carrying. Isn’t that refreshing? Yes it is! Is it just me or are you guys sick of seeing the LV Neverfull Tote. I most certainly am. ( I think I saw a homeless lady carrying one the other day).
